So I was hoping Samantha Stosur will win her first Grand Slam title today. I haven’t really been supporting her in the past, but first she beat Justine Henin, my favorite, then Serena Williams, my least favorite, then Jelena Jankovic, who I really don’t have anything to say about. These are top-quality players so she was expected to lift the trophy.
But it was not to be.
Francesca Schiavone of Italy, ranked 10 spots below Sam Stosur’s ranking of 7, won her first ever Grand Slam title today at Roland Garros. I managed to watch a few points through my intermittent live streaming connection, and I can say that she really deserved the win. Another observation, both she and Sam don’t need apidexin capsules. They’re both so physically fit, and now all their hadwork are paying off.
So congrats to Franny, and congrats to Sam. But Wimbledon is next, and I’m just about ready to cheer for Justine Henin again.
