I spent my Thursday afternoon inside the emergency room of the hospital nearest my place. I’ve always been scared of the ER because I know what kind of cases they’re expecting to get there. The last time I was there, a man came in with a large gash in the forehead from a motorcycle accident; two other patients were attached to spirometers. And those were even relatively “mild” cases.
I woke up from an afternoon nap with my heart racing, I guess I was having a really vivid but not necessarily bad dream. I felt dizzy with heavy chest, so I suspected my blood pressure was up. I didn’t realize how high it was until they had me checked. I almost got admitted, too. It’s a good thing my bp went back to normal after resting on their bed no. 1 for a while. I had to call my sister and her husband to get me because the doctor won’t let me go home alone. It’s not an understatement to say that it scared me. But I was also annoyed that I had to have that high a bp reading (160/100) to be accomodated using my health card. Another guy came in after me, showing the same IDs (he’s an officemate it turned out), but was not attended to because he “only ” had a fever. He was sent back to the office to get some forms first. Way to go, Health Care.
Thanks, Rico at Riza. Feeling better now. Mainit kasi din sobra. But you know what, they took my bp first, sent me to Information so I'd see a specialist instead of being attended to at the ER. When they saw that I was thinking of going home na lang, they sent me to have my IDs xeroxed as my LOA for ePLDT card. Ang init at ang tagal ko naghintay dun, so if my bp was any more higher than that, I don't know what could've happened. I miss Medicard! Kapag ganito cases, you can only wish that you have plenty of money to spare. And I wouldn't have minded paying na lang sana had they told me agad that it was that critical.
Posted by zarine at April 17, 2010, 9:07 pmDi ba nagkaka-migraine ka?
Akala ko dati migraine yung nararamdaman ko. It turned out na possibly high blood pressure pala.
Have you had a full checkup?
TPS, haven't tested for high blood pressure ulit. Matagal na kasi ako hindi nakaka-feel ng parang high blood except for this one time. Went to a cardio to have my ECG (from this episode) read and normal naman daw, plus normal BP ko during my check-up. Bantayan na lang daw muna, baka daw init lang and/or stress.
