Sports and superstition. Not really two words you would expect to go together, right? Well, tell that to the tennis players. And then tell that to the tennis players’ fans. I’ve read about Kim Clijsters and Roger Federer confessing to have a really strict routine from what they eat, to where they stay during tournaments, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they choose the specific bed and bed sheets, too. If they had been getting good results, they’d be very careful not to disrupt what they’re “doing right” for the moment. Just ask Andre Agassi. From his autobiography Open, he confessed that since he won the French Open in 1999 not wearing underwear (seriously!), he never wore one while playing again (well, this one can be a bit dubious).
So I was watching Federer’s 2nd round match against Ernests Gulbis at the Rome Masters. The Fed was losing, so I decided to turn off the live streaming and live scores before my chin acne spreads because of stress. When I checked again after a few minutes, he was still fighting and the game was leveled. When he finally lost, I kinda blamed myself for taking another peek at the scores. See what I mean?
Good morning! I just woke up from a few hours of sleep and saw my puffy eyes in the mirror. It will take a few minutes, or hours even, before I can go out and not look like I came straight from the bed. I remember some of my pictures from a company event when I had to get up at 4 am and be at the office by 6 am. Needless to say, they weren’t very flattering. Those actually made me buy cucumber from the grocery but I ended up eating them anyway. No kidding. Maybe I need an eye cream. This prevera review is, in the very least, worth looking at.
I’ve always been a bit paranoid of bath tubs. They always seem so slippery and I’m sometimes a klutz. Not that I have a tub at my apartment, but in those instances that I use one, like in my aunt’s house.
That’s why I was really amused at seeing/reading that there’s such a thing as a walk in tub. From the web site, it seems that it’s tailored for older people, and rightly so. It’s quite innovative, methinks, and way helpful.
In today’s hussle-and-bussle living, sometimes you don’t get to stop and think about possibly mundane but rather meaningful things just the same. Well, for me, it’s sort of a blessing because there was a time when I do nothing but think about mundane but possibly meaningful things. Even now when I feel like I’ve loosened up a lot, I still recently got a text message from an aunt telling me not to be so serious about life. How did I respond? By a simple acknowledgment and a bit of reassurance. I can’t tell her, that’s just how I roll, can I? People approach things differently, but there’s a certain way that’s maybe common to many. That’s why when you deviate from that norm just a bit, others may think that that’s what’s making you wrong in some levels. I differ, of course, but I’m almost always just too lazy to explain my side. I remember when I enrolled in a medical assisting school with a couple of friends a long time ago. We had a few discussions about psychology and that’s the only part I enjoyed about that whole course. Maybe I should have studied on that field but it’s too late now. Anyway, I could use some of the those points if and when I’ll feel generous enough to justify myself.
I spent my Thursday afternoon inside the emergency room of the hospital nearest my place. I’ve always been scared of the ER because I know what kind of cases they’re expecting to get there. The last time I was there, a man came in with a large gash in the forehead from a motorcycle accident; two other patients were attached to spirometers. And those were even relatively “mild” cases.
I woke up from an afternoon nap with my heart racing, I guess I was having a really vivid but not necessarily bad dream. I felt dizzy with heavy chest, so I suspected my blood pressure was up. I didn’t realize how high it was until they had me checked. I almost got admitted, too. It’s a good thing my bp went back to normal after resting on their bed no. 1 for a while. I had to call my sister and her husband to get me because the doctor won’t let me go home alone. It’s not an understatement to say that it scared me. But I was also annoyed that I had to have that high a bp reading (160/100) to be accomodated using my health card. Another guy came in after me, showing the same IDs (he’s an officemate it turned out), but was not attended to because he “only ” had a fever. He was sent back to the office to get some forms first. Way to go, Health Care.
I always get a chuckle with those abbreviations. True Blood [TB] and (The) Vampire Diaries [VD] are two of the hottest shows on TV these days. They’re both vampire stories, obviously, and they both abbreviate into communicable diseases. Ok, maybe that’s not too funny. But how gratuitous these shows are becoming is. I mean, I get what’s True Blood trying to do by flashing too much flesh and intimate scenes (well, partly to be controversial and get the audiences’ attention), and of I’m not complaining on seeing a shirtless Paul Wesley doing exercises on a pull up bar, but there are times when those scenes are plainly not needed that it just seems like exploitation and an insult to the TV watcher’s intelligence. I admit, maybe that’s taking it too seriously. These shows rarely need to be. They’re fluff and meant to be enjoyed that way. I don’t mean to say they’re written lousily. Truth be told, these two shows are quite written well and are very engaging. If you’re into vampire stories, that is.
Speaking of wanting to relax, I’ve been eyeing a spa/massage center I always see whenever I go to work. It’s been years since I last had a full body massage and I think I need one now. At least, I want one. Now. I’m just a little wary, to be honest, because I’m not sure what that specific establishment really does, if you know what I mean. If you don’t, a friend once commented that that place is strangely only open at nights. There. I guess I’ll need to look for (somewhat) popular places to be sure. I can’t wait to get under those spa covers and have a relaxing day for a change.
Isn’t it baffling how “hot” and “cool” can to both mean something nice these days? Our ancestors would be confused, methinks. But I just want to rant for a bit about the really, really hot summer days. I think I may need an allergy bedding because I’m getting skin rashes due to the extreme heat. Ahh, I want to hit the beaches. Soon. I’d wish for rain, but I’m a bit scared of flooding, so…
Here’s an April Fools video from the BBC that nearly got me. I’m soo gullible!
I mean, come on, penguins don’t fly! I know that, right?
Anyways, April is gearing off to a nice, busy start for me. Besides planning on looking for a Plano cosmetic dentist … wait, what? What I mean is that professionally and personally, I have a whole lot of lined up activities/tasks that will keep me not bored, and I’m only hoping that will continue for the rest of the year. Enjoy the rest of your holidays, folks!
