Lois & Clark

March 25, 2010

Lois Lane is one iconic character I’ve always had an affinity to. When I was in high school, I used to use her name whenever I join writing competitions, so much so that I got a Facebook message from a schoolmate I couldn’t even remember, calling me “Lois” instead of my real name. I don’t even read the comics and I’m only familiar with the old Christopher Reeve movies then. I was also pretty much obsessed with the TV show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, which starred Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain.

I guess it’s maybe because she’s a journalist and I’ve made up my mind early that I also wanted to be one. It didn’t happen for me, though. I lack Lois’ spunk and nosiness, anyway. Now on to Smallville. It now feels like a different show from its early seasons. With all the comic-book characters popping up every week, not to mention the core characters, I guess I’ll need a directory submission to keep track of the who’s who of the Justice League and their villains. I’ve been going over the forums to see how fans are reacting to the whole Lois and Clark romance in the show’s 9th season, and I wasn’t at all surprised to see that there are those who prefer the (noncanonical per the comics) character of Chloe to end up with Clark. I can see why, with all the build-up from earlier seasons and also because I preferred Chloe over Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), who, frankly, annoyed the hell out of me. But now, it’s the Lois & Clark show and I’m all for it. This is fictional destiny (if there is another kind) after all.
