Federer: Round 2, Check!

August 30, 2008

I’m not sure if posting these pictures will get me into trouble, but  aren’t they great? I love these action shots!

So, round 2 is done and over with. Roger reportedly tried  a few things, like coming into the net a lot more often than he usually does, against virtual unknown Thiago Alves. He won the match 6-3, 7-5, 6-4, while making 46 unforced errors! What a stage to practice fresh tactics; maybe his part-time coach, Jose Higueras, approves.

Health Concerns

I was thinking about not going to work last Thursday because of a sudden chest pain that struck me but then I changed my mind when it suddenly went away. But throughout that afternoon and into the next two days, my head was heavy and I was feeling grouchy, tired, and generally not well. When I went to the clinic, I found out that my blood pressure was a bit high, although not at an alarming level yet. This brought me to panic mode again, making me think about the food I ate the last few days and the fact that I haven’t been active at all since the badminton tournament last month. I also am a bit stressed out and not sleeping well the past few days, so I know what I had to do. Hay, I’m not even 30 (although very soon, I’ll be) and I already have to suffer through this! I guess there’s no better motivation to be a health buff than actually going through some health problems. Better start early before I have any need for constant medication, or worse, treatments like oral chelation. Chelation therapy is a form of treatment that targets, more specifically “chelates,” calcium deposits in the arteries so the blood can flow freely to the heart. It comes in the form of oral EDTA chelation, which means taking tablets like any regular medicine. It’s not a drastic treatment as surgery is, but still, the best way to go is prevention. Start at the cause and then try to maintain living the healthy way.

Oh, Ana

August 29, 2008

I was cheering for you last French Open and you won it and rose to world no. 1.

You crashed at Wimbledon, was injured for the Olympics, and lost your ranking.

Now you’re back at the top  and is out of the U.S. Open so early - they’re saying your loss today to  188th-ranked Julie Coin (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) is the worst ever inflicted to a women’s top seed since the Open era started in 1968

Where’s Justine Henin? Please come back.

USO 1st Round: Federer Through

August 28, 2008

Ok, this U.S. Open is going to get a lot of my attention just because it’s pretty special to watch how Roger Federer will handle his recent slump. This U.S. Open is his last chance to salvage a disappointing year (by his standards) and we’re going to see just how much his Olympic gold medal inspired him and how much he cares about the no. 1 ranking to try and snatch it back from Nadal’s hands.

First round, so far, so good. He was back in ferocious form as he beat Maximo Gonzalez, with the final score 6-3, 6-0, 6-3. Carry on, Rog.

Poker Ownage

I saw this celebrity online poker show on TV. It looks so … boring! I don’t know, maybe I just don’t get it. I mean, these celebrities must enjoy it; just like the thousands others who go gaga over this game. I’ve watched films and other TV shows wherein the characters even assign a particular day of the week just to gather together and play poker. But what about playing online? I imagine the best thing about playing poker is the camaraderie – it’s a social gathering more than a competitive game. Or at least that’s what I think. So playing online is a lot more boring, right? Ok, that’s just me again. If you’re interested about Online Poker, take time to read first the available resources. There’s a Poker Room Reviews site Besides review articles and gambling news, they even have poker gossip and rumors. I doubt that they have anything to dish out about celebrities there, though. So, missing the camaraderie? Why not go to Poker Forums? You’ll find people there to talk to. Get tips, perhaps, or talk about general things. Maybe learn a few more things about a game you think you already know everything about. Forums can be so much fun at times. Time-consuming to read everything they have to say, though, despite the trolls.

For Players

More about US Online Casino. I was talking with a friend about how we can make ourselves instantly rich and we came up with buying lottery tickets. But we’re both too lazy to actually but them. Then we thought about going to casinos. Still, we’re too lazy to go to the actual place. Now since we’re both always online, how about trying our luck on online casinos? But upon my research on the subject, it seems in these sites, Casinos US Players are the most welcome. I still have to meet or talk or have online conversation with anyone who plays online but if you’re willing to spend time to do research, then you might find several guides in the Internet on how to actually play. But weigh the offers and the potential winnings; check how many games are there to choose from in one site; choose the site which allows several payment options; and see if the site you are considering provides excellent customer support. The latter is very important as any of you who have done any kind of business dealings online probably know. It’s a lucrative business. But in the end, I still believe online casinos are OK for recreational purposes only. If you’re a compulsive gambler, or a compulsive person who has the tendency to get hooked on gambling, then I suggest you stay away from these sites. Play word games instead.

(What Could’ve Been) Maria’s U.S. Open Dresses

August 27, 2008

It’s a pity she won’t be playing and these tennis outfits won’t see the light of day (night for the black dress). I really like the blue one.

Gaming Review Site

As a postscript to my last post, there’s another Web site I found that’s very helpful, in fact it looks very informational, for online gamers. Casino aficionados who want to try online gaming will find their articles on several old and new online sites as a great guide; they even have personal stories and strategy tips for the novices. Also provided are directories of the reviewed sites for easy reference. The latest site to be reviewed is the Rushmore Casino. If you’re reading this post and somehow stumbled upon this site while searching for the Golden Casino, then you have to check the review site because I personally have no experience to share about this stuff.  I like it, though, that the answer the site gave to the question “Why Gamble at an Online Casino Anyway?” is that there’s not really an answer. It’s got to be a personal choice to go toward the gambling rabbit hole and you have to be prepared and equipped to face the odds if you are intent on beating them. You also must be prepared to accept that that may never happen. You also must be very careful in scrutinizing if you’re not being scammed because, let’s face it, there are lots of bogus offers you can find in the Internet. Well, if you’ll go down that road, the best of luck to you.

Online Gaming

With the number of Casino Online sites that I’ve been stumbling upon in the Internet, I still haven’t tried playing in any of them. I’ve gone to the sites, read a few articles here and there, while trying to enlighten myself about such a trade works, but I’m still at a loss until now. This is not surprising given that I haven’t been inside a real casino. The closest I’ve been is through the movies and through TV. It looks to be a glamorous place to be, and scary, too. How many movies have depicted people being thrown out, or worse really, really hurt, after doing something stupid like cheating or dealing in the tables without real money? So I guess that’s the advantage of playing online. You only actually play against yourself. I don’t know how you’ll go about choosing the actual site to play but there are Online Casino Ratings available to allow comparison of the different sites. By carefully reviewing first the online directories, you’ll give yourself a better chance of enjoying the experience better. So whether you’re looking to play Roulette or Texas Holdem, make a careful inspection of the site first so you won’t be a victim of possibly fraudulous casino sites out there. Remember that recreation should not be an avenue for financial disaster.

Today I Dreamed of Federer

August 26, 2008

Seriously. I just woke up and although writing this would almost surely make me late for work today, I just have to write this down before I forget.

In my dream, he was wearing this Nike T-shirt with the big swoosh on his chest. We were in some kind of party, although I didn’t see who else were there. I was holding a plate when he called my attention. He smiled sweetly and then warned me about eating a particular dish. “It’s not good,” he said. The funny thing is, funnier than me having a dream about Federer just when the U.S. Open, well, opened, is that in my dreamland, he looked like a dork! His hair was straight, with bangs, even. I can’t explain it, but it was unmistakably him.

I was relieved to wake up to this:

And what’s Maria Sharapova doing there in the background? She’s not even playing this Open. The picture was taken at the 40th anniversary ceremony earlier wherein they honored the past 40 champions of the tournament. Prickly fans are lamenting the fact that she was also at the Nike party and another players’ event last weekend. She’s withdrawn with an injury and all the papers still show her pictures, shadowing almost everybody else in the women’s event. Well, I’m not surprised. Tennis is not beyond publicity and they need their golden girl to get that, whether her name appears on the draw or not.
