There could be no worse time to get sick than today. But I did, anyway. The moment I started to feel really cold while at the office yesterday was a definite sign plus the weak feeling I was starting to have. True enough, I woke up today with a very high fever and my head was hurting so much it feels like all my blood went up there. A few hours after noon, my leg muscles were aching and weak. The medicine I took doesn’t seem to be working and I was restless and hungry and too weak to buy some food or call a delivery service. Earlier this week, I was having the dilemma of trying to decide if I’ll go with two of my friends to watch The Dark Knight or if I’ll attend the last badminton practice today before the tournament on Saturday. Then, this. I’m feeling a lot better now, after taking my fourth capsule of anti-flu medicine; I’m only hoping that I’ll be able to go to work tomorrow and be well enough to play by Saturday. I wish though that I have some compression garments to soothe my leg muscles. Lacking ice packs, I had to improvise and use a towel wet by cold water to help bring down my fever. I could even use a gel eye mask and compression socks for total relaxation. But I’m feeling OK now, which a surprise, even to me, when a few hours earlier, I was even crying from pain and high fever. The lessons I got from getting sick today are these: Never think that you’re too healthy to get affected by getting wet in the rain; when doing sports, never allow your perspiration-soaked shirt to dry up in your body – always have a spare shirt or two; have adequate rest and good sleeping habits.
