T in the Park

T in the Park is a major music festival in Scotland that is being held annually since 1994. According to Wiki, it is named after its  main sponsor, the brewing company Tennents.

This year, the festival will take place from July 11 to 13, at Baldao, Kinross-shire, Scotland. Genres covered are rock, alternative rock, Indie rock, punk rock, techno, and others. Not exactly my kind of music (I don’t even recognize half of what I wrote there), but I see some interesting names in this year’s line-up of stellar performers. Headlining the event are REM, Rage Against The Machine, The Verve, Kings Of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy, Pigeon Detectives, The Raconteurs, Interpol, The Fratellis, Stereophonics, The Kooks and Primal Scream. T In the Park Tickets are reportedly being sold in record time, a testament to the festival’s popularity.

Looking at the other performers, I am most interested about the inclusion of KT Tunstall, Sugababes, Counting Crows, and Amy Winehouse on the list.  I have downloaded KT Tunstall’s Eye to the Telescope and it is still one of the most refreshing records I got to find recent years. And Amy Winhouse is always interesting to see, despite all the troubles she gets herself into. This Grammy winner has some real talent behind all the drug scandal. If T in the Park Tickets will have any pull  on me, despite geography, that’d be for those two. 

There was one time when a friend invited us to a sort of a jamming session that featured hard rock and metal bands; I’ll never forget that because I had to get out of the room after a few minutes because it felt as if my brain will explode out of my head; my heart was pounding in my chest and not for reasons of overexcitement and enjoyment of the music, but because the amplifiers were set at full volume and the room was so small and the band was screaming expletives (I’m actually not sure of this, but I vaguely remember there must have been some of that) and all at the top of their lungs.  

Well, this music festival probably offers a different experience. Besides, it being held in the park, in open air, will definitely make much of a difference. T in the Park Tickets, for those who might be looking for them, are available online. You might want to save your spaces in the park this early.
