While doing some internet stuff last night, I saw a copy of this recently shown Filipino film and decided to play it on my DVD player.
Funniest thing I’ve seen in months. Hilarious. I couldn’t even look at some scenes, but I was too lazy to grab the remote and press the Stop button so I actually finished the movie.
The first time I heard about these big shows happening at
It has been announced that the next big act to grace the stage of Caesar’s Palace is no other than American pop icon
The 62-year-old singer has just completed her Farewell Tour. You would think that means she’s about to retire. Apparently, it’s a farewell from going on tours. Now that the Vegas show is a done deal,
Everyday, before I enter the office premises, I acquired this habit of looking at the Welcome signs posted outside our lobby doors to see if we should be expecting visitors, potential (usually international) clients who are normally escorted around work stations to observe what we do. Whenever there’s a new sign, that’s a signal for me to check if my desk is presentable enough - not that I’m particularly wary about making an impression but more because I’ve been caught twice by the CEO, of all people, doing some non-work-related stuff while he’s leading a group of highly intimidating suits. There was this one time when I shifted seats to gossip with a friend at the exact moment the CEO was to appear in front of my desk talking like "…now these are the group of people doing blah blah blah, highly technical, cerebral stuff yadda yadda." He was with a group of clients from India. I swear I heard him stop talking for a couple of seconds while he eyed me beratingly. If only I have an interpreter with me, I would have wanted to say something funny in Hindi. Of course, that wouldn’t have been funny in reality; I’m lucky to be still with work.
I have a friend who used to have this fascination with Indian guys. We’ll always alert her whenever a visitor looked to be one. We’ll always have a good laugh whenever we see her watching Indian TV shows on cable even if they weren’t dubbed in English nor were there subtitles. It’s not surprising, though, considering a lot go gaga over Korenovela nowadays. Same, same.
I would love to learn another language someday. A job in translating seems to be fun. But I’ll probably leave that to the pros. There are people for this kind of stuff. Anyway, going back to my story, the other time the CEO caught me red-handed, I was drinking a hot cup of coffee fresh from the vendo machine. We’re not supposed to bring them to our work station, you see. I guess that pretty much ruined my chances to be named Employee of the Month, ever.
Sitting inside a jeepney, you know you’re not thinking about love when what reminds you of what February generally means is a large banner showing two faces of male politicians with a heart between each photo. The banner was hanging beside a tailor shop with red hearts pasted on the glass windows.
As if on cue, the old lady sitting in front of me started talking (not to me) about her beloved husband. How she had so many admirers but chose the one she instantly liked. I only needed a couple of minutes to hear a rather cute courtship tale before I reached my stop.
Walking toward the sidewalk, I noticed two police officers having a smoke. I took one look at the guns stuck by their waists and shivered a bit. I get paranoid about a lot of things. When one of them greeted me with a seemingly polite "Good morning, Ma’am," I had to acknowledge due to fear more than anything else. I felt a bit embarassed for being misanthropic. I thought about those little hearts on the glass windows and sang to myself’ "What the world needs now is love, sweet love. It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of."
The lock-in period for the ISP I’m currently subscribed to has expired since about 6 months ago and I’ve been seriously considering if a change is in order. I’m not really satisfied with the speed, considering the monthly service fee. I’m hoping for a speed that would at least allow me to watch online video streaming without interruption, taking into account that the published kbps these providers are advertising about are not exactly the actual speed you’ll get once your system’s up and running. Below are three of my choices. I created a poll to see if anyone who’ll stumble upon this blog can help me decide which among these internet service providers can give the best value for my money. If you answer "Other," please leave a comment or suggestion.

On another note, I created the poll above using a helpful Web site. It’s actually very easy to set up. They offer services like free myspace surveys. It’s a fun way to inject a little something into your blog and increase audience participation as well. All you have to do is prepare your questions and answers, get the code, and paste them on your site, just like what I did.
Here’s another site I discovered that gives us bloggers the opportunity to generate income from our blogs. I copied the homepage message below.

I’ve already registered and is now waiting for approval. Wouldn’t hurt to try, right?!
I wasn’t supposed to stay late today. Oh well, blame Spring Awakening.
I was surprised to learn that Duncan Shiek wrote the music. I meant that in a good way. The story was based on a 1891 German straight play of the same title, which was banned due to its controversial theme - as you may have guessed, teenage anxiety and discovery of sexual urges.
Here’s a video of the cast performing at the 2007 Tony Awards presentation
I’ve been far too removed from teenage angst and naivete to really be involved with the story but the cast was superb, the music is engaging, and the soundtrack is one that would occupy my mp3 player for some time. I really can’t say how I managed to watch a video (blame geography), but if you’re anywhere near where it’s playing, giving up 2 hours of your time, and a few bucks, to watch might well be worth it.
1. Never do a 120 (you didn’t review)-slide-long presentation with only a PowerPoint viewer.
2. Sometimes, old people make me feel … young. And not in a good way.
3. For the first time in weeks, I didn’t play any Broadway song in my mp3 player.
4. I thought the last episode of 30 Rock was mocking me. Either that or I was dreaming that by the end, the characters were singing lines as if in a musical, singing in chorus with all the exaggerated hand movements and hip swings. I’ve been imagining myself doing something like that with my everyday conversations.
5. How do you measure a year? 525,600 minutes. 525,000 moments of tears. - There I go again. This month marks my blog’s first-year anniversary. It’s a big deal - to me.
6. It’s been proven - RSL Badminton racquets are among the most durable around. My doubles partner and I had a minor miscalculation which ended up in major damage - I was taking a shot on my backhand side, which she also took on her forehand side (we’re both right handed). Her racquet head smashed mine, and I could only look in aghast when hers broke in two; it looked like a folded piece of metal. Mine didn’t even have a scratch.
7. I don’t think I’ll ever give up badminton; sometimes, though, going to the courts feels like high school - it’s cliquish and all.
8. I didn’t like I.Am.Legend. Both times I watched.
9. Two people I know got married today. To each other.
10. It’s 3 a.m. on a Sunday morning (to me it’s still Saturday) and I’m thinking Conti’s mango bravo! Yum!
