Hugs and kisses.
The world could use a lot of that. Ok, fine, I can. Last night was the first time in so many months that I was able to sit through an hour of nighttime news. It wasn’t pretty. What did I expect, I wasn’t watching an episode of Gossip Girl. I can’t remember the exact moment in my life when I turned completely apolitical. Not that I’m proud of the fact; a few reminders here and there make me feel how clueless I am about the goings on in the real world. I’m not about to punish myself for falling into the trap of my own reality, but I’m joining the chorus of people realizing that the "world doesn’t revolve around me." Because it doesn’t. If it’s up to me, it shouldn’t revolve at all. At least until I say so.
But I’m trying to be positive here, I really am. I’m way more open to happiness than what my words may tell you. Another blogger I know quoted these lines; one of my absolute favorites from the movie Meet Joe Black.
I want you to get swept away. I want you to levitate. I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish. Be deliriously happy. Or at least leave yourself open to be. Stay open. Who knows? Lightning could strike.”
Bill Parish [Anthony Hopkins]
I’m waiting for you, lightning. Hit me.

maybe you ought to wear a white shirt with a huge red dot in the middle and then shout HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT at the same time
. seriously though, i’ve stopped watching news programs for some time now — for some reason, i either end up feeling depressed or annoyed when i watch news clips. as they say, “ignorance is bliss”
